American Patriot Fest 4th annual free, open to the public, family-friendly event designed to celebrate and to say thank you to our armed forces. This year’s event was held May 12, 2018, featuring a full day of festivities at the beautiful Craig Ranch Regional Park in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Las Vegas Valley community, and visitors from the southwestern and western region of the USA came together to Honor, Respect and pay Tribute to all branches of our armed forces and their families; including active military, Veterans and those that have served and sacrificed.
The weekend was filled with activities for all ages, live music and a competition for the JROTC. Cars and Strips car show and fundraising for military and Veterans Charities.
A vintage motorcycle built by Steve Darrnell owner of the Welderup Shop in Las Vegas, and star of the hit TV series Vegas Rat Rod is being raffled off. Welderup is not your average car customization shop. Steve Darnell is the master mind behind the madness created at Welder Up. Just give Steve a theme for your build and you will be amazed by his imagination, the creative materials, and details that bring your vision to life. The engine is a 1943 Harley-Davidson Flathead most likely used during WWII. The whole bike is designed as a story of what a Veteran went through during the war. He etched the story that the bike portrays in memory of his grandfather who was in WWII and to show his Patriotism to all the Veterans. It also has attached a compass from WWI, and an etching of the Vietnam Memorial Wall. Over the next few months the tickets will be on sale to have a chance to win this vintage motorcycle. Tickets can be purchased at VFW Post 10047, through participating charities including 22 Warriors, Nation of Patriots, Nellis Support Team, the Shine Family Foundation or at the Source One event on Cassie Way Henderson, for more information and upcoming places to purchase tickets go to: www.americanpatriotfest.com.
The winner of the cars and strips show was a Navy veteran, Jonathan Way.
The American Veterans Traveling Tribute, an 80% scale replica of the Vietnam Wall Memorial in Washington DC was on display. Opening ceremonies included the presentation of colors by the JROTC and the DAV of Henderson provided a 21-gun salute and taps. Colonel Garner from Nellis AFB addressed the audience. Vegas PBS, with the support of the Southern Nevada VA Health Care System presented Vietnam Vets in attendance with a coin and pin to help honor them and welcome them home. Gold Star Wives presented the Gold Star wreath; the POW/MIA wreath was presented by Vietnam Veterans.
Branan Allison event organizer and President of Source 1 Events commented that the Festival is growing every year and they are so happy and proud of the community and how they can help raise money for the local Veteran Charities.
Branan also thanked the sponsors of this year’s event, City of North Las Vegas, LVCVA, Budweiser, Navy Federal Credit Union, 360 CarShows, Review Journal, Flowers by Michelle, Welderup, the Vet Center, vendors and volunteers for their continued support, and all those that attended the opening ceremonies.
