The Cookies for Troops project sendoff was held December 14th at the VA Hospital. Cookies for Troops Founder Chef Brenda Villatoro and Vice President William Stine were on hand for an interview.

Santa and Chef Villatoro arrive in their sleigh pulled by a red convertible and escorted by the Marine Riders of Las Vegas at the Military Hospital to start the sendoff of the Cookies for Troops, they brought with them a sample of the cookies for all to enjoy and spend some time with the Veterans.

Chef Villatoro grew up in the Vietnam Ara and remembers how the troops were forgotten. So, 11 years ago she started this program. The first year they sent about 3500 cookies overseas to the troops fighting in the war, to give them a taste of home and let them know that they were not forgotten, and last year they made and shipped out 22,000 cookies with the projection of about the same for this year.
