DAV Chapter 12 Honor Guard Honored by Nevada Department of Veterans Services

On July 19th the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 12 Honor Guard was honored as the Veterans Supporter of the Month at the Grant Saywer Building on 555 Washington. Richard Kere nominated the Honor Guard for the award.

The Honor Guard was recognized and presented a plaque by LT Governor Mark Hutchins representing Governor Brian Sandoval’s office. The DAV Honor Guard has put in 1,448 hours with an average of 5 people on the team.

Kat Miller, Director at Nevada Department of Veterans Services, presented the Guard pins as appreciation for what they do for the community.

Ramiro Parocua Commander of the Honor Guard said that when it was first formed in 2016 that it was an Honor Guard of one, then Richard Walker and Bill Bondman, who was 80 years old when he joined and was a great inspiration for the other members to join and now has 18 members and is growing. He thanked everyone involved, especially the wives and families that has supported them sometimes with little notice.
