On Friday, July 20, 2018 Congresswoman Dina Titus held a Veterans Roundtable with the leadership of nearly 40 veteran organizations that serve the veterans of Southern Nevada. The conversation discussed the VA Mission Act, the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act, the Agent Orange letter recommendation sent by Rep. Titus to the OMB, updates to VA RAMP, national and Nevada veteran suicide data, and Rep. Titus’ co-sponsorship of the Gold Star Spouses Bill (which recently passed the House).
Rep. Titus engaged with the leadership on finding new ways to further decrease veteran suicide and provide additional assistance to those veterans dealing with mental health issues. Peggy Kearns, Director of the Southern Nevada Healthcare System, discussed the positive changes to mental health appointments, the “Hey Google” and “Siri” feature on cell phones, and participant Valerie Williams informed the group about internet chatting and text messaging for those veterans who prefer this form of communicating.
At Congresswoman Titus’s request, David McLenachen, Director of the VBA Appeals Management Office, will be in Las Vegas to speak with veterans, and their dependents, about the VA Rapid Appeals Modernization Program (VA RAMP), now open to all veterans. During this event veterans will be able to apply for VA benefit, housing, and enroll in VA healthcare. Additionally, veterans can submit applications for Nevada and Clark County veterans’ benefits.
Please join Congresswoman Titus for this VA Benefits Forum and
