Greater Nevada Detachment 186 Marine Corp League (GND186) had their monthly meeting on March 26th at the Leatherneck Club. One of the topics at the meeting was their upcoming 9th Annual Golf Tournament on May 18th. GND186 will use money raised from the event will be donated to local charities to help local veterans, their families, their caregivers and children.
“We just want to get out there and do the best that we can to raise as much as we can and also to raise awareness “, says GND186 Jr. Vice Commander Lynnoi McCormick, the Co-Chairperson of the Tournament. They are looking for more sponsors and golfers so if you’re interested please look at their ad in the paper.
Deon Wilson joined as a new member this meeting. He says he joined “this detachment because it’s a good organization, and me being a Marine myself I wanted to be a part of organization that I’m familiar with and also to help all the other veterans in the future.”
A representative from Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada came to the meeting as a guest speaker. Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada’s clinics are for people “with no insurance whatsoever” and low income. They provide everything except for surgery, prenatal care and cancer.
