Henderson Veterans Treatment Court held graduation court for Chris Winkowski. The speaker of the day was Mentor John Ottery who spoke on how the treatment court is like “Boot Camp.” The process that you have to maintain and go through is counted in months instead of weeks. He said the core values of the different branches of service, Army has 7, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard have 3, and that Veterans Treatment Court represents all of the services and that they should represent all of the core values and remember them in the life ahead. He congratulated Chris on a job well done, and to remember what he has learned in the program and carry it with him for the rest of his life.
Chris told his story and how he ended up in the program. He said that he needed a reset in life, after a time in rehab, then getting in trouble again, his attorney kept pestering the Treatment court until they finally let him in. With the help of his mentors Steve Alexander and John Ottery along with Henderson Veterans Treatment Court Judge Mark Stevens and his staff, he gained back the respect he wanted within himself and from others. In his 14 months in the program he has become more honest with himself and to others, with the teaching from his 4-year-old daughter.
Congratulations Chris for your great accomplishment, keep up the good work.
