On May 23 Ken Hill and Janet Snyder represented Jewish War Veterans Murray L. Rosen Post 64 at the Walmart Supercenter at the airport on the first day of the Poppy Drive, giving out poppies and flags and accepting donations for the Kline Veterans Fund to help local veterans. Cute kids gave Ken a hug and thanked him for his service as a WWII Veteran. They are from Hawaii and lost their home because of the lava.

Sanford (Sandy) and Sheila Epstein collecting money as they sell POPPIES to raise money to help all Veterans and their families in need at the Smith’s on Flamingo and Ft. Apache.

All went very well until the last day when about 1:30 PM a young man grabbed the jar with a large amount of money in it and ran through the shopping center with Sheila screaming ‘THIEF’ and ‘HELP’.

Many people in the shopping center and several people in cars went after the thief. He was caught, and the jar was retrieved with some of the money still in it; but a few hundred dollars were missing.

Sheila is still recovering from this traumatic incident, and heartbroken that anyone would steal money that is so badly needed to help our VETERANS and their families.
