In the fall of 2017 organizers from the American Patriot Fest met with representatives of VFW Post 10047 to brainstorm about new events for the 2018 American Patriot Fest. Although a lot of good ideas were thrown around, the one that kept being brought up again and again was hosting a JROTC drill competition that would be open to all of the CCSD programs. In order to get a better feel for how a drill competition would flow, Branan Allison from American Patriot Fest and Steve Gibbs from VFW Post 10047 attended a drill meet at Shadow Ridge High School. Allison and Gibbs were extremely impressed and after one more meeting to work through the logistics, the competition was officially announced. Allison said “the competition will be a great addition to the many activities taking place at the American Patriot Fest and an opportunity to showcase to talent and dedication of these young men and woman”. The competition will take place on May 12th at Craig Ranch Regional Park and will consist of armed and unarmed exhibition phase drills. Teams will compete for trophies and monetary donations to their programs. For more information go to www.americanpatriotfest.com
