The National Novel Writing Month (November 1- November 30) had their initial start off get together on October 29th, 2017. NaNoWriMo is a nonprofit organization which gives the money that they raise to schools and free curriculum to teachers to help their students write with the helping young writers program. This program started in 1999 and has chapters all across the world. They regional volunteers called Municipal liaison and Rachel Salyer is the one here in the Las Vegas Valley area and her partner liaison is Kyo Young. They organize events to encourage people to write, motivate and help them in any way that they can.
The starting event was to meet everyone and creating “PLOT BUNNIES”. Plot bunnies are ideas that are stuck in your head you can’t get away from. So what they did, was to actually create them, giving them names, back stories and put to those ideas to life.
National Novel Writing Month is for anyone who has ever wanted to write, you are asked to write a 50,000 word book and they have different events throughout the month to brain storm and write in a social atmosphere, making it a fun experience.
