Reuben is a combat veteran of the USMC served from 2003 to 2008 in the Iraq Siege where he was wounded and received a medical discharge and a Purple Heart, before becoming a History teacher at Rancho High School, and will do all he can to fight for the veterans. When elected to Congress, he will lower the veteran unemployment rate, defend and expand veterans’ education benefits, promote access to small business financing for veterans, streamline the VA and end backlogs, never allow the VA healthcare system to be privatized, expand veterans’ benefits to family members, increase support for female veterans, and combat suicide among veterans and active duty personnel.

Congressional candidate Reuben D’Silva talked about his platform on politics and what he’s going to do for the veterans. Some of the many major issues that Reuben wanted to discuss about were: immigration, education, and health care. Reuben is pro- immigration and will help immigrants become U.S. citizens and help reunite families that have been separated by an outdated immigration system. Reuben will also fight for more affordable and tuition free colleges and provide federal support for local school systems that create effective and innovative access to 21st century S.T.E.A.M. based education. Reuben was taught to take care of the sick and suffering, so he will fight to strive for a single-payer healthcare model and strengthen Medicare and Medicaid.
