Walker Furniture delivered all new furniture and accessories on March 22 to Cram Middle School compliments of Walker Furniture’s 18th annual “Teacher Appreciation Day” program.

Each year, Walker Furniture in cooperation with the Clark County School District School-Community Partnership Program gives students in Southern Nevada an opportunity to win new furnishings for their school’s teachers’ lounge by writing a letter describing their favorite teacher. More than 400 letters were received.

The winner this year was Cram Middle School, thanks to a letter written by 8th grade student, Demarie Harris, on behalf of her choir teacher, Amberlee Udy. Brand new furnishings delivered for the teachers’ lounge included: a sofa, loveseat, end table, coffee table, lamp, bookcase, plant and big picture for the wall.

Linda Alterwitz-Mizrahi, owner and director of community projects for Walker Furniture and organizer of the Teacher Appreciation Day program, presented student and teacher with certificates for their achievements and awards. For her outstanding letter, Harris received $100 cash and Udy was given a $150 Walker Furniture gift certificate. Walker Furniture will return to the school to deliver a plaque and commemorative photos of the event.

In her letter to Walker Furniture,

In Harris’ outstanding letter to Walker Furniture, she detailed amazing opportunities choir teacher Mrs. Udy has made possible for her students and how she does it all at her own time and expense. Harris’ expressed gratitude for how her teacher has created a positive learning environment for her to grow and develop her talent including teaching songs in different languages.

“While Walker Furniture contributes to many worthwhile causes each year, the Teacher Appreciation Day program is particularly meaningful because it involves our local students and their teachers,” said Alterwtiz-Mizrahi. “The letters are so well written on behalf of so many wonderful teachers that choosing the winner is really challenging. We are delighted; however, to present Mrs. Udy and Cram Middle School with new furnishings and to congratulate Demarie Harris for her well-written and heartfelt letter.”
