The Society of Military Widows had their annual Christmas for the kids on November 19th at the Las Vegas National Golf Club. SANTA CLAUS aka “Big Daddy” Billy Sauceda was there at 11:30 – 12:30 to talk with the kids and have pictures taken with him, before he leaves for the North Pole.
President Kym Ennis welcomed the members and guest, the Benediction for the ceremony was by Alberta Elliott, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by General Jake Roszelle. Mike Colian introduced the Honored Guest, Victoria Seaman.
The honored guest Victoria Seaman spoke about her passion for the military and why she supports the Veterans here in Nevada, is because her grandfather, father and husband all served in the military. She quoted President Reagan who once said ” We are only one generation away from Freedom. ” She spoke about her time as an Assemblywoman and what she accomplished, along with her plans for the future as a congresswoman. After her talking with the Veterans all over the state, she feels that it is time to give back to the Veterans and fight for the veteran’s benefits that are so greatly needed especially medical. She continued to say that we should pay 100% of the medical for them and their family, because they give 100% when they served our country, so it is time to give back. She spoke about different bills that are in congress and how she will fight for these bills, that benefit the veterans, to get them passed.
BELLE & BEAST ENTERTAINED THE KIDS WITH PHOTO OPS, READING STORIES, FACE PAINTING, ARTS AND CRAFTS, AND SHOWED MAGIC COOKIES. BIDDING ON THE SILENT AUCTION ITEMS WAS FUN FOR ALL THE GUEST AND SMW CHAPTER #34 MEMBERS, DRAWING FOR PRIZES WAS LAST BUT NOT LEAST WITH NUMEROUS WINNERS.
