United Way of Southern Nevada’s (UWSN) is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Emerson as their President & CEO. Mr. Emerson officially assumed his role on February 1, 2018. On February 27th the United Way welcomed him with all the glory of his position. His strategic vision and leadership experience will be instrumental in guiding United Way. He will lead the organization forward as we continue to support children from cradle to career and strengthen families as they work to build pathways out of poverty.
Mr. Emerson has served 31 years with the American Red Cross, the first 12 as a volunteer. His roles have included leading and modernizing the Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross. Mr. Emerson is dedicated to growing resources and developing strategic partnerships to improve local services for our community.
With a focus on innovation and collective impact, Mr. Emerson will collaborate with UWSN supporters and actively engage the community to create measurable impact through United Way’s Community-Based Agenda, a roadmap to improving lives through early education, high school achievement, post-secondary attainment and workforce supports. Using information from United Way’s recently-launched information hub, Community Connect, Mr. Emerson will also lead the organization’s efforts to fund community work using data and research, both of which are critical to solving Southern Nevada’s greatest challenges.
