On February 26th the dedication ceremony for ” The Tiny House” project was held at Veterans Village. This is a project that was started in 2007 and is now a reality. Dr. Arnold Stalk, founder and director of Veterans Village, purchased abandoned cargo containers to house veterans and made them into nice little homes that are self-contained with solar energy, bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen/living area.
Mayor Carolyn Goodman told the spectators about the plan that Dr. Stalk had and how he brought the first container to the Medows School, which was painted and the outside was decorated by the students. At that time, they were not allowed to do major construction but it was a model of the dream.
Speakers of the day include Peter Guzman, Latin Chamber of Commerce President, Ron Reese, Sr Vice President of Sands Corp who started the seed grant for the project, and Tommy White, Labors Union 872 which will donate the cost of one of the “Tiny Houses”.
