Walker Furniture does it again, on July 7th they presented 10 of our veterans’ furniture as a thank you for their service. This is the 5th year that Walker has been hosting this event, with the assistance of American Legion Post 149.Commander Robert Bencsko of the post, presented Walker Furniture owners Larry Alterwitz and Linda Alterwitz-Mizrahi with a plaque thanking them for their continued support of the local veterans in our community. Larry and sister Linda were available to present the winners their certificates for their furniture. The letters were submitted by email or written letter to the post where they read them, evaluated the need, and let the winners know. The Winners this year were Adam Ortega, John DeGoosh, Allen Sanzara, John Wind, Robert Leak, Dixie Leddon, Idelma (Del) Urolia, Joshua Tellez, Robert Reyes, and Dean James Allen.

“The challenge with this program is the veterans are all about giving to others,” said Alterwitz. “They don’t want to ask for anything even when some of them have very little. They are truly America’s treasure and deserve our assistance.”

Lunch was provided by Road Kill Grill.

Patti Gerace, Marketing Director for Walker Furniture, commented that this will be the 25th year for the HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS program and the 5th year for HELP FOR HEROES. Along with these programs Walker also do a lot with community and Clark County Schools.
