Memorial by: Steve Seiden, Commander, JWV Department of Nevada

Sidney Arnold Blum, age 73, of Las Vegas, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018. Sid was born October 11, 1945 in Chicago, IL to the late David H and the late Gwen (Jacobson) Blum. Sid joined the Navy and served during the Vietnam War. He had a very successful career in accounting, earning a number of designations including CPA, PFS, CFP and ChFC. Sid was a 30-year member of the Rotary and a member of the Jewish War Veterans. Sid is survived by his wife of 47 years, Esther Blum.

Sid moved here from Chicago about 5 years ago, when he was a CPA and a Certified Financial Planner. He advised both Temple Sinai and Kline Veterans Fund in his capacity as a CFP. I met Sid over 4 years ago, and I saw an individual with confidence, integrity and leadership qualities. He was my Senior Vice Commander and then became JWV Post 64 Commander. He was also involved with JWV Department of Nevada. He would have been nominated for Vice Commander of the State of Nevada. Through his efforts as Post Commander, the Post supported The Nevada Veterans Home in Boulder City, The Fisher House, Nellis & Creech AFB as well as the Jewish Community Center here in Las Vegas. He was also very active with the West Summerlin Rotary Club.

Sid will always be remembered for his work he did as a Veteran Helping Veterans and the greater Jewish Community

A memorial service was held on Tuesday November 13, 2018 at the Temple Sinai. Contributions in Sid’s memory may be made to The Jewish War Veterans Kline Fund klineveteransfund.org, or Rotary International.
