On June 12th, about 5:00 p.m., I bring a veteran friend who served 12 years in the U.S. Navy to Veterans Village because I found out the man lost one third of his weight. I asked him why he is so thin. He said that he had no food, so I took him to Veterans Village 2, because I knew they have a food pantry there. Although on Wednesdays their pantry is only open from 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., but they still opened the pantry up for this veteran. The Veterans Village staff was very helpful and supplied him many groceries including canned food, oil, potato, onions, milk, eggs, and even meat. The veteran was very happy with two new boxfuls of groceries, and his new supply of cooking utensils. As he was leaving, he kept saying, “This place is full of angels, this place is full of angels.”
Monday, Wednesday and Friday the food pantry is open from12:00 p.m. noon to 3:30 p.m. For emergency cases only the food pantry is open 24/7. Food is donated by Whole foods, Traders’ Joes, Starbucks and Einstein bagels. Founder of Veterans Village, Dr. Arnold Stalk can be contacted at 702 624-5792
