Public, staff and partners from Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities (CADD) at Touro University Nevada gathered to celebrate their latest addition of eight treatment rooms on Tuesday, January 29th.
Among the eight new rooms, they dedicated rooms to Caesars Foundation, Peter Munk Barrick, Zappos for Good and Tracy and Robert Eglet. Since Peter Munk Barrick was a Holocaust survivor, they had their Rabbi Yehoshua Fromowitz put up a Mezuzah on Peter Barrick’s doorway. Angela Belinsky, a parent of three children on the autism spectrum, spoke about how CADD helped her two youngest kids, saying, “They are truly the cornerstone of their growth”.
“One aspect of our center that I think is perhaps the most important and the one that I love the most is that we do not want cost of treatment to be a barrier to any family. As such we offer scholarship funding for our families,” says Former U.S. Representative for Nevada’s 1st congressional district Touro Western Division CEO and Senior Provost Shelley Berkley. “It gives the family the knowledge that they’re not in this alone and the continuum of care is very important. Early intervention and continuum of care can truly make an impact on these children’s lives, not only now but to the future as well”

Touro University Nevada (TUN) is a private, non-profit, Jewish-sponsored institution established to help address critical needs in health care and education and as a resource for community service in the state of Nevada. The university’s Henderson campus includes a multi-specialty health center and a multi-disciplinary Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities. Touro University’s CADD doesn’t currently serve any children of veterans yet but they do serve first responders.
