On May 27th morning, American Legion Post 8 partnered with City of Las Vegas and hosted a Memorial Day ceremony at Palm mortuary (Palm Downtown Mortuary & Cemetery, 1325 N Main St, Las Vegas, NV 89101, USA) for all our fallen heroes and heroines. After the ceremony, 12 noon, guests watched as the Commander of Post 8 Tom Cook and his fellow members and began the flag raising ceremony. Before they began the Cook gave a short speech on the meaning of the flag raising ceremony, “We honor the memory of those who gave their life in service of our country; May the ceremonies of today deepen our reverence of our departed friends and comrades. Let us renew our pledge of loyalty to our country and its flag. Let us resolve by word and deed to emphasize our privilege and duty of patriotism.” After the raising of the flag, Cook led everyone in ending prayer.
