The big fundraising event in May will be the Memorial Day Poppy Drive May 22 – May 27. Sign-up sheets were passed around for members to commit to shifts during these dates: May 22 – 27 and times: 9 – 12; 12 – 3; 3 – 6. Commander Jerry Bootzin is the Chairman of the Memorial Day Poppy Drive.

Guest speaker Dr. Sondra Cosgrove, instructor of History at the College of Southern Nevada, gave a talk about “Nevada History with a twist”; giving us new insights about how Las Vegas started and why, and the connection to Native Americans and how important it is ‘when to be where’ – and she enjoyed meeting our JWV Post 64 Life Member Kenneth Hill, who was one of the Founders of the College of Southern Nevada in 1973.
These are three of our WWII Veterans who are members of JWV Post 64: (from left to right)
