Geoffrey Beaumont, son of Naval artist Arthur Beaumont, received the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Historic Preservation Medal on January 12, 2018, from the Old Spanish Trail Chapter DAR in Henderson. Dr. Linda Miler, OST Chapter Historic Preservation Chair, prepared the application. Mr. Beaumont was selected for his countless volunteer hours in the preservation of his father’s naval art legacy. His father was appointed “Official Artist of the Fleet” by Admiral William Leahy in 1932. He would continue painting naval-themed works for 48 years. Geoffrey has written a book, Art of the Sea, which was published in 2016. Fully illustrated, it was drawn from family archives and firsthand knowledge of the man and the artist. Geoffrey served seven years in the Navy, serving in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Mediterranean Fleets. Mr. Beaumont is currently engaged in a national book tour. Six of his father’s paintings are on display at the National Atomic Testing Museum for a few more months. The book is on sale in the gift shop.
