MOAA Christmas Party

By: Janet Snyder

On Thursday, December 13, MOAA Southern Nevada Chapter hosted their annual Christmas Party at Palace Station Casino.  The entrance and room were beautifully decorated in a beautiful night club-like setting with the theme ‘A Christmas Through The Decades’. Live music by Charlie and Laura Shaffer delighted everyone, as we danced to music from the 1940s through today. Lawrence Oravetz, photographer for the Veterans Reporter News, took photos of the guests in front of the Christmas tree. Complimentary champagne and hot hors d’oeuvres were served during the social hour.  Chapter President Colonel John Menter was Master of Ceremonies. During the meal there were toasts to the Commander in Chief, all the military services, to the missing servicemembers, to the military spouses, and to those who were ill and unable to attend. There was a memorial to those members who died in the past year. The evening concluded with drawing of great door prizes. It was a delightful event with kudos to the chef and staff of Palace Station Hotel & Casino.
