On Friday, August 24th, 2018, Veteran Peggy Randle was honored as Nevada’s August 2018 Veteran of the Month in a ceremony held at the Grant Sawyer Office Building in Las Vegas. Nevada Secretary of State, Barbara Cegavske presented Ms. Randle with a plaque signed by Governor Sandoval. She was also recognized with certificates from the offices of Nevada State Representative Jacky Rosen and Senator Dean Heller.

Ms. Randle served in the United States Navy from 1955-1957 and in the naval reserves from 1957-1968. Married to Fleet Marine Corpman, Kenneth Robert Randle, they planned on a life of service to the veteran community after retirement. Unfortunately, Kenneth Randle passed away before they could fulfill that dream. Peggy says that Kenneth is the inspiration for her service activities and that she tries to honor him every day by her service to other vets. She has a stepson and two active duty grandchildren, both Army. She says that the Army-Navy game can get quite intense around her house.

Peggy has been active in the veteran community for over 30 years. Some of the many organizations that have benefited from her services, include the Women Veterans of Nevada, the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder, the Patriot Guard and the Nevada Veterans Home in Boulder. She has worked hard to identify and honor our “hidden heroes”, veterans who are in nursing homes and not yet enrolled in the VA system or are not aware of the benefits they earned with their military service. Peggy describes herself as a “worker bee” and says her goal is to make sure that every veteran’s last days are as pleasant as possible
