It’s that time of year again! Southern Nevada’s one and only Summerlin Fourth of July Parade is here again for its 25th year in the valley. Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak and first lady Kathy Sisolak, along with U.S. Congresswoman Susie Lee, Mayor Carolyn Goodman, city of Las Vegas, former Mayor Oscar Goodman and members of the Las Vegas City Council, joined the parade. This year, in honor of the 25th anniversary, several new floats were added to the parade, including “Cheers to 25 Years float featuring the Desert Angels gospel choir”; “Mary Poppins’ Jolly Holiday”; “Mamma Mia Dance Party”. This year, more than 2,500 people participated in the parade and behind the scenes the parade operations are organized by The Summerlin Council and over 500 volunteers from dozens of local schools and the local community. The parade has been in the making since January and the work shows with the 40,000 attendees. Volunteer coordinator () says, “Well, we still have our day jobs, so we’re working from anywhere from 12 to 14 hours a day.”
