Veterans Village held a unique ground-breaking ceremony at the Veterans Village 2 Campus on Tuesday morning, December 11th to celebrate beginning of the construction on a new Village by Sands Cares. This new housing complex will be an expansion of the Veterans Village 2. This construction of 10 new homes will continue Veterans Village dream of ending veterans’ homelessness.

“You can’t solve a homeless problem without building homes, it’s just not possible” says Dr. Arnold Stalk, Founder of Veterans Village.

Because the new housing will be made out of shipping containers, the “groundbreaking” was instead torching out a window in a shipping container. City Councilman Steve Seroka says this housing project will be the first of it’s kind in this country.

As much as 200 attended the event including Las Vegas City Councilman Stavros Anthony, Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Seroka, Representatives from Congresswoman Jacky Rosen, Congresswoman Dina Titus, Las Vegas Sands, The Raiders Foundation and Builders United Construction.

Generous donations have come from Sands Cares, the Raiders Foundation, Pisos Dispensary, Operation Tiny Home, and Laborers Local #872.

Development partners include Martin Harris Construction, Builders United Construction, MOSER Architecture Studio, Collins Civil Engineering, MSA Engineering, Nova Engineers, ARIA Landscape, XL Landscape, and Ambient Solar Energy.
