On Saturday November 23rd, Veterans Village partners with Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals (VAREP) to host their 3rd Annual Veterans Village 5k Run/Walk at Smith Center at Symphony Park. The money raised will go to Veterans Village to provide transitional and permanent housing residences for veterans. The race kicked off with almost a hundred crossing the starting line.
Acting Emcee Mayor Carolyn Goodman speaks about Veterans Village persistent effort to end homelessness, “It’s been going and alive ever since [Arnold Stalk] came to Nevada and we’re just so thrilled to be apart of this whole family’s effort to house our veterans; I look at him and I see the circles under his eyes that are so dark that I can hardly see his eyes but he does love every one of our veterans and I guarantee you that the city will stand with him all the way.”
On the podium, Congresswoman Susie Lee says to the audience, “I live in the greatest country, in the greatest democracy on because you [veterans] put your life on the line to fight for our freedom.”
Founder and CEO of Veterans Village Arnold Stalk says, “Veterans Village is dedicated to not only housing but ending homelessness in southern Nevada, I think this is a huge topic right now, it has been for me for 43 years; Our organization’s committed to putting 200 more units into downtown Las Vegas within the next year or so.”
Special Guest Speaker Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones says, “We at the county are working hard on homelessness early this year we voted to devoted $12million additional dollars from marijuana fees to address homelessness in our community; Our veterans are those who should never be in a situation where they’re homeless”
