On September 28th, Las Vegas Councilwoman Ward 2 Victoria Seaman invited dog owners in the Las Vegas community to Kellogg Zaher Dog Park for a doggy barbecue and to the unveiling of the memorial for Leia the dog. Sean Patrick Cornwall said that after a person threw a poisoned meat packet into their yard, it poisoned three of their dogs and killed Leia. “Leia would’ve been three years old the week that this happened; I had cameras I did everything I could at the time to prevent things like this from happening and still this person did this; This person had been targeting the lakes for five years and he’s still out there possibly planning his next attack on another dog; I’d like to thank Councilwoman Seaman for helping my family for this whole ordeal. She’s really been with us.”
Sean hopes the memorial will spread awareness and save future dogs from being attacked in the future. Anderson Dairy, Joe Wakem, Pink Box Donuts, and Three Dog Bakery provided the food for the barbeque.
