Own a Piece of the Plaza and Own a Piece of the City of Henderson History

The city of Henderson in partnership with the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 730, established a park with shaded seating, game tables and landscaping that provides for a small gathering space in Downtown Henderson. The Purple Heart Plaza features a Purple Heart Monument along with space for donor custom engraved pavers for purchase to honor someone who has served in the Military. For a individual or group to be engraved on the pavers need not have been awarded a Purple Heart. For more information on how to order pavers please visit www.purpleheart730.org.

Mayor Debra March, members of the Henderson City Council and representatives of Purple Heart Veterans Chapter 730 held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the Purple Heart Plaza at 101 Market Street, in downtown Henderson. The Purple Heart Plaza is open 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week.

Established in 1782, the Purple Heart Medal is awarded to any service member who is wounded or killed in action. Henderson became the first Purple Heart City in Nevada in January 2014. The plaza features the Purple Heart Monument along with a donor paver program that allows the public to purchase engraved pavers to honor someone who has served in U.S. Military.

SPONSORSHIP

The Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 730 has established a sponsorship program to support its mission to provide assistance to all veterans. The Chapter helps all veterans by purchasing support dogs for veterans, specialized equipment not covered by the Department of Veterans Affairs, food and clothing for veterans and their families, as well as provide assistance with filing claims for veteran benefits and more. The Chapter can do these things because of donations from corporations, companies, and individuals. To continue helping veterans, we have established a sponsorship program with four levels of sponsorship, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Purple, with Purple being the highest level of sponsorship. The “Purple Heart” program designates cities and towns as a “Purple Heart City.” Henderson, Boulder City, and Las Vegas are Purple Heart cities. Pahrump is a Purple Heart town. Nye County is a Purple Heart county and was joined by Clark County on August 7th. Most recently, the city of Henderson in partnership with our Chapter opened Purple Heart Plaza in downtown Henderson. The Governor declared Nevada to be a Purple Heart state in 2017. We have coupled the “Purple Heart” program with our sponsorship program, so that we may designate corporations and companies as “Purple Heart” sponsors.

The Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chapter 730 is an IRS tax exempt 501 (c) (19) Veterans Service Organization. All sponsorship level donations are tax deductible.
